What do I actually get?
A ZIP with the complete source code, in TypeScript and in plain JavaScript. It includes both variants, default and avatar, and the adapters for S3, Supabase, Cloudinary and REST.Copy the folder into your project and make it yours. There’s no npm package, no account and no framework lock-in. It needs React and motion, and the code is clean and commented, so it’s easy to change. See Easy Installation for the full setup.
Which plan do I need?
Two questions. How many developers will touch the source? One is Personal, up to ten is Team. And who is the work for? Personal covers projects you or your employer own, Team adds anything you build and hand over to a client. Projects are unlimited either way, so the number of sites you build with it never changes the answer.
Couldn’t I just ask an AI to build one?
You could, and you’d have a first draft in a minute. The work starts after that: trying it with folders, renamed executables, uploads cancelled just as the server answers and file names that break storage URLs, then fixing what breaks and trying again. Drop Upload has been through all of it already.It also makes your AI better at the job, because wiring a finished part into your app is exactly what agents do well. Working with AI has prompts for it.
Can I customize it?
Yes, and usually without much CSS. Every colour is a --du-* custom property on the component’s root, so a handful of overrides is often the whole job. The accent, the drag effect and the spotlight have props of their own. For anything deeper, the styles are plain CSS Modules, one small commented file per piece, and yours to edit. No Tailwind config to match and no theme object to learn. Customization walks through it.
What does the licence allow?
Use and change it in as many projects as you like, commercial ones included. Your own projects on either plan, client work on Team. What you can’t do is pass the source on: reselling, redistributing or publishing it, as it is or modified, as a component, template or library of your own. Anyone else who wants Drop Upload gets their own copy.
Are updates and support included?
Every version that follows is yours at no extra cost. No renewal to forget and no licence that runs out. Email support lasts 12 months and reaches the person who wrote the component. Support has an end date, updates don’t.
What if it doesn’t fit my project?
Email me within 30 days, tell me what went wrong, and I’ll refund you. One question, not a form. A refund ends the licence with it. You can also try every prop in the playground and read the docs before you buy. Both are open to everyone.
